Dear Santa...

Dear Santa,

This year I've been busy!

In August I pulled [info]ceallachdon's hair (-5 points). Last Thursday I caught a purse-snatcher who stole [info]stongbad2050's purse (30 points). Last Sunday I broke [info]lizzytard's X-Box (-12 points). Last Wednesday I pulled over and changed [info]zipzilla's flat tire (15 points). In September I gave [info]billyhate a kidney (1000 points).

Overall, I've been nice (1028 points). For Christmas I deserve a red Radio-Flyer wagon!

Sincerely,
gamergranny

Jul. 26th, 2004 10:08 am Big Sisters

Had a great time yesterday, my big sister Nona, and her husband Bob, came down to spend the day. We just lazed around, chatting, catching up on all the old and new family gossip, talked about kids, and grandkids. We sat outside by the pool and enjoyed the cooler weather, unusual for Texas in late July. Nona had to have her cigarettes, has lost quite a bit of weight, tho she doesn't seem to think so.

We had a late lunch, had a "put it all out and eat it" as one of my granddaughters calls it. Tom sliced up tomatoes (fresh from the country, my brother Carl had brought me some), cucumbers, onions, put out apple slices, seedless grapes, trays of Wasa flat bread and crackers, pan biaggio. Then came the genoa Salami, sharp Cheddar, Brie and some cream cheese. Tom put out some dipping bowls and his olive oil-Basil infusion for the pan biaggio. I had to have some butter for my Cheddar cheese, onion, and tomatoe sandwich. Makes me think of a ploughmans lunch in a pub.

My big sis and I are now friends, when I was a kid I was the "brat" to her and my other  big sister, Lucy. It seemed like whenever I got in trouble it was always because of one or the other of my big sisters. Go figure. Of course when my kids were teenagers my sister Leona, told them all kids of stories about me. Sounds like I was a real terror, but not from my viewpoint. Hmmmm?

We really enjoyed seeing and visiting with them, we have become friends, my sister and I, as we have grown older and closer ,distance wise and emotional.

All in all it was a very good day.

ttfn, te amo

Jun. 21st, 2004 09:10 am Thoughts

Well, Fathers Day has come and gone. It was a good day, we goofed around and then went to Frys Electronic store. Got a new monitor for Toms' computer and I got the 21 inch for mine. I like having the larger screen for games, Deaus X looks really good on it!! We also got a new Hub?, our internet connection had really been iffy upstairs and it is going realllly fast now.

We picked up steak and lobster tails and Tom fixed them for dinner later. We had apple dumplings with vanilla ice cream for dessert and they were scrumptious. I think the most decadent dessert I have ever had ,was Chips molten chocolate with Kels homemade raisin rum ice cream. That is a dessert to die for.

Well, our youngest grandson just had his 4th birthday and was full of it when we talked to him on the phone. They are all growing up so fast, especially Molassy.

We went to the Company picnic Satuday, it was at "Texas Lils" dude ranch. Sorta fun, the food left a lot to be desired. The servers were all standing around and the flies were all enjoying the food immensely. Not my type of fare. Quite a few of the staff were there, the ones my husband works with were all out in force. Enjoyed seeing and talking to all of them. Listening to the comments around us, the rest of the Texas Lil staff was doing its best not to do their jobs. ie.. not attending to the stands, games, etc.

We went to Shepherd AFB first to pick up odds and ends at the commissary. I hadn't realized how much I had missed seeing all the young airmen. They all stood tall, looked proud of themselves, and they were all in good shape. No underwear showing, no pants hanging by luck, even the ones in civvies looked clean cut and neat. No small miracle in this day and age. I guess after years of working with the military and all the young Airmen, I really miss it. When we moved here, I had 17 years Civil Service and couldn't get back into the system, mainly because Texas unemployment had no idea how to work with someone with prior Military and Civil Service, I should have been put into any opening since I got here still in the system. Oh well, such is life, but I still miss working with young people. Very much so.

Well, so much for digressing... ttfn

May. 2nd, 2004 05:13 pm Random thoughts

Well, here it is and it is already the second day of May.  I have no idea where the time seems to be going, it just seems like I am running to keep up with it.

Thinking of our upcoming road trip and all it will entail. We are heading out towards California and Oregon, and hopefully to see kids and grandkids, Uncles and cousins. I think it is going to be a great trip and I am buying DVDs and trying to figure out which game system I should take and what games.

Our oldest grandson is going with us and I hope he will play some games with me. Our daughter, Kyla, is going with us and hopefully our son, Ceallach. I think it will be great fun. Ky and E are going to do an itinerary for the trip. I would like to see the Redwoods, other than that I am pretty much game for whatever else they choose. Oregon and California are both beautiful states and have lots to do and see. The route should have a bountiful selection of things to see and do on the trip to and back. This should really be great fun.

We washed both cars this morning, mine was absolutely filthy. Toms'  Honda van just had lots of mud on it from the Scarborough Fair last weekend. We just about got stuck, and the mud was flying everywhere. Kel got out with no problem, his jeep can go anywhere. We had a lot of fun, walked all through the fair, got rained on, ate good food, thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Saw Don Juan and Miguel, and the Nuns, didn't see the Bawdy Wenches on the list. We enjoyed being with our son and had a very good time. Ky and Chip couldn't make it.

Apr. 7th, 2004 04:33 pm Thoughts

Well, it is another cold, wet, and gloomy day in the low sixties. I guess this is a typical Texas Spring day, but Boy!! am I ever ready for sunny skies and green everywhere and flowers!!

I think I was born to be in sunny weather, like in Spain, Arizona, you know, those nice warm places with great patios and swing chairs to sit outside and read in. When we lived in Spain, one of my favorite places was out on the terraza in the hanging basket chair. I could take a book, curl up in the chair and enjoy the day. Our youngest son, also loved to sit out there, with Sam, our black Lab. It was a huge yard, with a low, white pickett fence around it.

The Spanish workers scrounged all of the wood crates and pallets and made the fences to sell to the military families on the base. The Gypsies would take the big wood containers and make houses out of them. I remember one very suave gentleman, who would stand outside his "house" with a Top Hat and White gloves and wave at all who passed him by.

I remember all the beautiful flowers on the roadsides, mostly I recall the beautiful red Poppies, and some kind of frondy thing with little white flowers all over it.

I realllly remember the great food though. I would go back in a heartbeat, just to taste the Savoury Chicken that was baked in a clay dish with all the veggies . And the Tortillas you could get in downtown Madrid. They were like frittata with potatoes in it and then put in a bolillo like a sandwich. Umm, they were tasteful. Oh, and not to forget the Sangria with the meals, not any one place made it the same. It was all good though.

Well, time to go for now. ttfn
